It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes and at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools. RIP Tyler Clementi, Asher Brown, Seth Walsh, Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase and Billy Lucas. You are loved.

Join this event and invite everyone on your friends list. Don’t let their deaths be for nothing. Let it mean something, and let’s do something to change this country for once.

Out of the approximately 28 million people in Malaysia, where I am, I highly doubt that even 10% of our population will be aware of this going on. Neither will many of them give a damn, because this is something that is taboo here, in the Eastern side of the world. We are a conservative society, yes, but it’s time to start moving forward, I think.

Despite being a Christian and having people preach at me my whole life that ‘behavior like this is bad’ and ‘against the original intentions of God’, I still believe that each one of us have our own rights. If He’s all that great and omnipotent, would He not want His creations to live in peace and harmony with one another, with free will and passion? Everyone says that nobody knows the will of God, or what His intentions truly are, because we, as ordinary humans just can’t understand Him. So how can anyone insist that they interpret His Words as such and such? How will anyone know the real meaning behind it?

Anyway, this is something I’m gonna be a part of. People may not understand the reason behind me wearing purple this 20th, but at least I will know I’m doing something for my beliefs. Not only will this be for the six of them, but for everyone else who’s true to themselves, everywhere around the world.

Last weekend I heard this guy say that people nowadays blog/tweet/Facebook because they all want attention.
There's some part of every human which always craves attention and wants others to take notice of them, hence they rely on means such as Twitter and Facebook to express themselves.
In fact, these social networking sites are so extremely popular in the world today that they're verbs in their own rights.
Like, "I'm Facebook-ing now" and "Tweeting from my handphone" are now acceptable English sentences, if only because everyone understands what they mean.

But, in my opinion, these websites are not all about attention garnering, right?
Blogging, for example, consists of a whole range of topics on which people from all around the globe expound upon.

The most popular type of blog is the personal blog.

These are blogs on which individuals post various information, be it on themselves, their lives or basically anything that comes to mind.
They are open-ended blogs, with no limitations as to what people can put up on them.
Of course, this means that they're the most widely used type, because of the freedom people have with them.

Then comes the service blogs.

These are blogs which offer services such as buying/selling items (Blogshops).
Obviously, these are mainly for money-making purposes, but there are some instances where these blogs are used to showcase an individual's talent/handiwork.
These blogs are also quite popular, as they make purchasing easier because the users only have to order and send out the payment to receive the items.

We also have the travelogs/foodies.

These are blogs/online diaries which focus on various places or food.
They introduce foreign spots or famous local delicacies to people around the world who will most probably never have the chance to personally visit those places.
In these blogs, photography is crucial as descriptive writing alone is not enough to attract readers.

Lastly, we have the showcase blogs.

These are blogs people set up to exhibit their artwork/photos/misc. items on the world wide web.
Think of it as a sort of art gallery, but with a bigger range.
Photobugs and models love these, as they're also a sort of portfolio one could refer to if considering to hire the writer.
But of course, they're not only limited to professional photographs taken with dSLRs or beautifully panoramic scenes of the Grand Canyon; they can be a gallery showcasing a rock collection or a photoblog made especially for someone's favourite pet cat.

On the web, the possibilities are endless.
People can be whomever they want to be, as long as they're hiding behind the perfectly practiced facade of a computer monitor.
True, in many instances people really are seeking attention when they use these facilities.
But surely there's more to that?

So, what do you blog/tweet/Facebook for?

Sorry for the almost week-long hiatus, I didn't have much time/mood/energy to update.

But, but, but, today is different!
Today I'm filled with so much leftover energy that I predict a day full of catching up on whatever I need to catch up on.
Know why?
'Cos I passed my driver's license test this morning!
And yes, on my first try, too.

So what does this tell us?
That I'm better at driving than I am at riding motor?
Or that when given a chance to sweet talk the JPJ officer personally, I've a much better chance of passing?
:P

Being random, sorry.
Okay, moving on.

The past week has been busy like WHOA.
I've been going for driving practices, planning out the 2nd Manjung Company's 15th Anniversary dinner, rehearsing ACS's presentation for that night and catching up with all my friends who've come back from KL/Kedah.
Especially Sam, who came ~~down~~ up to Sitiawan from KL to join us for the company's anniversary celebration.
We had loads of fun with him around.
;D

Oh, and I managed to spare time to go watch Resident Evil: Afterlife.
Which, by the way, is a very violent show.
Thank goodness we didn't watch it in 3D, else we'd all get heart attacks.

Still, that's gonna be the first and the last Resident Evil movie I'm ever watching.
Unless got someone going with me whom I can hug and squeeze when things start exploding on screen.

another day, another PARTAAAY...

Just got back from Kelly's birthday party.
Was fun, but I didn't bring my camera, so no pictures.
Although, I'll wait for the rest of them (Who, smartly, brought their super canggih cams) to upload all those super DFA pictures onto Facebook lah.

Anyway, ugh, I don't like riding at night on my motor.
It's a lot of work, and if it's too late, it's scary.
Worse thing is when it rains.
Gods, can't wait till I finally get my P-license so I can legally drive.

So we had a barbecue at Kelly's place, with the whole gang of us 5S3 sakais.
On the plus side, there was loads of yummy food, and BBQs are always bound to be fun.
The bad thing about having open charcoal fires and inexperienced cooks, though, is the heat, the smoke and the burnt food experimentations.
But it was the first ever BBQ I've been to with hash browns and marshmallows offered to us to destroy over the fires.
Oooh, and and and, there was this big bottle of Hershey's chocolate syrup, which was awesomeeeee.

So yeah, I had a pretty good time.

Now, though, my hair smells like charcoal smoke, even after washing.
Ughhh.

And by the way, every time I think of the word 'party' now, I immediately associate it with my end-of-year Singapore trip.
Oh yes, I'm very likely going down to Singapore after my SPM, guys.
It'll be tots AWESOME.

Anyways, HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY to Kelly.

the NAMEWEE controversy...

Okay, who DOESN'T know Namewee, huh?
The mastermind behind YouTube hits like Negarakuku and Nah, Siti Inshah?
Come on, the dude's a national celebrity by now!
He's well known all over the Malaysian web and his name's even in print/on the news.
So, if you really haven't heard of him, you must be like, some really ulu person who lives in the middle of a jungle without TV or internet.

Anyway, he's facing the possibility of legal action being taken upon him for posting all those controversial videos, most of which take a direct hit at the Malaysian government.
The kerajaan dudes wanna stick him in jail for voicing out his opinions through video media.

I think it's all bullsh*t.
They can't sue someone for speaking their minds.
I totally don't agree with their pending decision as to whether or not Namewee should be brought to court.
All he did was express things as they are, and since we do have a law that protects the freedom of expression, I don't see why it's a big deal.
Unless, of course, that law (Like so many others) only applies to those who are 'bumiputera'.

It's not that I totally agree with Namewee's methods of expression.
I do have some issues with his extremely foul language and choice of words, which tend to make him seem a lot less serious than he could be when dealing with these sensitive topics.
I mean, if he were to be civil and talk with the flair of someone who knows his stuff, he'd sound a lot more convincing.
But of course, that way he'd have attracted less viewers and garnered less attention.
Everybody loves a scandal, innit?

But he's got the guts to say aloud and shout it to the world, the issues we're facing here in Malaysia.
Extremist he may be, but he's done what few people dare to do and gone that extra mile to make himself heard.
At least the things he say are true, right?

Freedom of speech and expression FTW, people.
It shouldn't be just a concept in the Perlembagaan Malaysia which we have to study pointlessly about in school.
As of many other Articles in there, too.

first day after trials...

So, trials are over.
Am free for now.
Still don't feel like much though.
Oh, gods.

Anyway, my first day after trials was a Friday and the morning started off by going to CHMC for a BB meeting.
Strange that I should be going even after I've already graduated from it, but... Meh.
After, went for regular yumcha session with the GG Gang (Alan, Alex, Ervin, me) and Ling Jia.

Then, drove all the way down to Lumut Waterfront to lepak for a bit.
As usual, when GG gets together, crazy stuff happens.

I drove Vin's Myvi into a cement pole, too.
Fingers itchy to test out an auto car, I was a little careless and maneuvered it to kiss the pole.
I swear I went ten shades of pale when I heard the scrape.
It wasn't too bad, and I promised to pay him whatever it costs to fix the paint-job and a bit of knocking, but I still feel like shit.
He was super gracious about it - didn't even shout at me or anything.
And that makes me feel even shittier.
Gods, will there be no end to my miserable uselessness?

what we 'learn' from history...

We've always heard it being said that our history is what teaches us about our future.
Our history is where we get lessons from which to improve ourselves and avoid the same mistakes our forefathers made.
Our history is meant to teach the younger generations about our past and our legacies, so that we don't forget who we are in essence.

But if these are the reasons why we are learning history, then what the heck have we been studying in Sejarah at school?

Because to me, it appears more to be a chance to show off the achievements people have made in the past, not allow us to learn from them.
To me, it seems like the only reason our Sejarah syllabuses are saturated with Islamic history is to conduct a sort of 'brainwashing' thing, or to convince the 'rest of us' that Islam was a major part of the world's past and present.
And in Malaysia, where we should be taking a leaf out of other, more advanced countries' books, we are instead sticking to a system where we're only focusing on what happened here and not the world in general.

Well, I don't deny that yes, our country's past is important, but what happened to the rest of the world matters, too!
Of course, Islam and its whole movement was a big part of history, but what about everything else?

We have one chapter on Europe's Dark Ages and a few references here and there to the World Wars, but that's about it for Sejarah Tingkatan 4 and Tingkatan 5.
We don't get to learn about the early civilizations; the New World discoveries; the in-depth of the Renaissance and Reformation periods!
Closer to home, we don't even get to know more about the Chinese empires and many dynasties or even the spread of all the other major religions in these areas.
Heck, our textbooks even have ridiculously stupid information errors, especially when discussing the religions.

I mean, who said that Jesus Christ was the founder of Christianity?
That's like saying the Nabi Muhammad 'mengasas agama Islam' (Founded the Islamic religion), and I'm sure that statement would create an uproar in this country if written in the textbooks.
Same concept, okay?
Jesus did NOT 'create' Christianity, he was the Son of God sent from heaven to save the souls of all of us!
For goodness sake, if those historians (Or textbook authors, whichever) can't even get that right, what's to say they got anything else correct?

By not being given the chance to open our minds up to the world and the things happening around us, we have already successfully begun our first step backwards.
As if we're not heading backwards fast enough already, is it?

Anyways, watching movies which reflect real life people in real life situations engaging in real life animated banter is just real life awesome.
Although, real life probably doesn't have quite that much drama, unlike the series.
But I think you understand what I mean gua?

Being able to watch people whose country speaks English as a native language engaging in daily social activities is stimulating.
I mean, Manglish is fun and useful and expressionable and all, but real English is the epitome of awesome.
Your brain has to work fast and try to catch things as they come so that you'd be able to understand what's going on in the show.
And after long periods of dumbing down my language to communicate with people in everyday life, to be able to witness something so different is just...
It makes me happy.
:D

Besides, the look on my family members' faces as I laugh and comment on the show is just priceless.
Like my brother, for example, who was like, "Hah? What so funny?" when I was helplessly laughing over the sarcastic, verbal attacking scenes.
Ooooh, bliss.

And, I hate dumbing down my language intellect just to get through the day.
It's so annoying sometimes when I've got something smart to say, but hardly anyone understands it.
So, yeah, Manglish is going to be the death of this beautiful language in Malaysia.

Just had carbonated apple juice AND a mug of really sweet coffee, which is gonna be killer for my hyperactive mind tonight.

I'm just home from my trip down to KL for the blogging contest's prize-giving ceremony.
Nothing much, really.
Four long hours' drive down to pick up some books and RM100, then four long hours' drive back.

Can't say I'm not disappointed that I didn't get an Ipod Touch, or that the system should have been more human-judge-based rather than votings, but a finalist out of 70+ entries from all over Malaysia doesn't seem too bad, I guess?

Just feeling a little down, because the trip was seriously tiring and seemed like a bit much just to pick up RM100...

Oh, well.
When I feel like I'm up to it, maybe I'll upload some photos and stuff.
Not now, though.
Like, effing exhausted now.
KL traffic and roads are biatches.
Gods.

I am very, very, very sick now.
Like red-eyed, runny-nosed, sneeze-crazy sick.
Thought it was just sinus as usual, but it seems to be a extending into cold instead.
Oh, gods.

(I kind of 'adopted' that "Oh, gods" thing from Percy Jackson. >.>)

Anyways.

Today was WendyD's birthday and we celebrated at school.
It was kinda like Jack's birthday a few months back, right down to the Secret Recipe cake and the whole 'hush-hush' atmosphere.
But then again, when you live in a small town like Sitiawan, Secret Recipe cakes are considered treats and school is the best place to celebrate with everyone.
So, yeah.

Was cute, the way we put things together at the last minute just to celebrate it for her.
They tried so hard to keep her from knowing, but I supposed she kind of guessed anyway.
Still, it was fun and one of our last so-called 'happy moments' before the end of our final year arrives.
So I smuggled my camera to school and the whole bunch of us camwhored and stuff.

This Friday will be the day I go down to KL for the Sunway University College's blogging contest prize giving ceremony.
(Wow, that was a mouthful)
Sincerely hope I win, although the experience alone was awesome!

And of course, SPM TRIALS will be starting the Monday after next.
So, yeah, I've been (((trying))) to study.
Very little is going in, though, especially the memorizing subjects like Sejarah.
I mean, who really cares about pages and pages of Islamic history?
We should seriously be learning stuff that are more open and useful, like world history.
We have that, like, only one chapter nya.

But that one chapter was so enjoyable that I steadfastly refuse to study it in Malay.
I'm going to do research on European history (Dark Ages, Renaissance, Reformation, Revolution) on the Internet so that I can truthfully say that I really STUDIED Sejarah.
:D

I think that's about it in my life for now, everything else is more or less minor details.
Either that, or I can't remember because I'm too sick to think straight.
Oh, gods.

Oh, oh, oh, yes!
Can anyone recommend a good multipurpose solution for contact lenses?
I need a new brand, because the previous few I've tried are either sucky or not suitable for me.
I think my eyes are a little sensitive, so...

Sorcerer's Apprentice - a review...

Okay, I guess I'm a little behind on this, since The Sorcerer's Apprentice came out about a week ago.
But hey, I live in a small town with just one small cinema in it, so give a little leeway lah, okay?

So anyway.
Sorcerer's Apprentice has a really predictable storyline.
You know, like really powerful wizard defeated by really powerful witch who is in turn trapped in some jail-like thing by the powerful wizard's student.
Then the powerful wizard dies because he's been mortally wounded and he tells his student that the only way to really kill/destroy the now-trapped powerful witch is to find another dude who is even more powerful-ler and has the fate of the world in his hands.
And so the powerful wizard's student (Who can, by the way, live forever because of some powerful spell) goes in search of this dude so that they can all save the world and be reunited with their respective loved ones.

Throw in loads of action scenes, a dragon or two, a whole lot of fire/burning stuff and a little bit of physics applications, and there you have The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

It was really predictable - quite a number of movies use the same storyline so that it's totally overused already.
But this movie's saving quality was its not-too-bad acting and the wicked effects.
Oh, yes, and it had a bit of humour in it, too, so at least we had some laughs.

But it was the first ever magic-related movie that actually explained magic in scientific terms.
Now that is something new.
=)

Anyway, the verdict?
3.5/5 stars, for the awesome action scenes and good actors.
Definitely not Avatar material, but it's worth watching if you're just out for a light, fun night.

Oh, oh, oh and the main actor (Jay Baruchel) was cute.
Not hot cute, but 'kawaii' cute because he acted the bumbling, clumsy, nerdy university student who was cool in his own way after all.

P.S. - If you ever intend to watch the show, do remember to look out for a scene where David Stutler (Jay Baruchel) uses his newfound magic powers to clean up his laboratory.
He literally commanded the mops and brooms to work on their own, while he went to have a bath.
Needless to say, something went wrong and (The powerful, dead wizard's chosen student) Balthazar Blake (Nicholas Cage - See? Impressive line of actors!) gives him a lecture about it afterward.

The scene was so totally Mickey Mouse!
If you've watched the old cartoon when you were young, Wizard Mickey did the same thing too and fell asleep, ending up flooding his whole castle.
It was cool watching it acted out.

But still, it came out clear and HDTV quality.
So, yay~!

Can't wait to start watching, because the show is NICE weh!
No sparkly vampires, no emo, sadistic main actress, and no Robert Pattinson.
This should be a bomb.

stereotypes...

We've all heard of terms like 'dumb blonde', 'preppy snob', 'drama queen/king', 'emo goth' and so on.
The world is full of stereotypes; classes in which everyone places everyone else in so that each and every person can be defined by a specific adjective.

But how true are names like these?
How really dumb are blondes, or pretty girls?
How really stuck up or snobbish are rich kids?
How really show-offy are school jocks?

People always say that stereotyping is bad and that everyone shouldn't be doing it.
But what if there really is some truth in those names we call others?

Here's my theory:
How people turn out to be depends a lot on the environment they've grown up in, their backgrounds, their personal values and the characters.

Confused?
Let me give you some examples.

You call that pretty girl dumb, because she may have the looks, but is still stuck at the bottom of the class.
Well, she probably has never had to use her brains, because her looks already get her everything she wants and needs.
Her charm and beguiling nature is dominant, therefore giving her no reason to develop her other skills.
After all, why work hard when others can work for you?

Rich kids.
Snobby, stuck up, cocky and all those stuff.
But they've been provided for all their lives by their money-loaded parents.
Whatever materialistic items, they have and their needs fulfilled by the house's maids and servants.
They never had reason to take care or even watch out for themselves, so why start in school?
They've been pampered and cuddled and well-provided-for; naturally, they feel at ease and proud of themselves because they have nothing to worry about.

The same goes for jocks and athletes.
They've got the talents, so it's only human nature to want to show off, isn't it?

Nerds, dorks and bookworms are antisocial because they're never given a chance to shine.
Their domain lies in the academics, so they stick to their comfort zones.

Stereotypes don't necessarily fit everyone, and a lot of people don't like them, either.
I'm not saying that everyone should be moulded and conformed to fit society's expectations of them; I'm just saying there is some realism in the class (If any) that society has deemed you to be a part of.

Sedangkan my tests start on Tuesday.

By the way right, why do so many Chinese artistes/actors/actresses have ridiculous names?
I mean, I was just browsing through Galaxie and came across the name Real Ting.
He's Miriam Yeung's hubby and is rumoured to be joining Miriam on stage at her next concert.

His name cracked me up, so I decided to Google him to see what he looked like.
The verdict?

Oh, there's nothing 'fake' about him, all right.

So what's with Chinese artists' penchant to choose totally ridonkculous names?

For example, Fish Leong.

Do you see any resemblance of her to a marine animal?
(Is that even correct grammar??)
Well, maybe her slightly-puffy eyes...

But still.
Why Fish, of all the nouns the English language offers?
Why not Shark or Eel or Dolphin, then?
Dolphin Leong, hmm...

I'm not insulting her lah; don't sue me.
But c'mon...

Or a certain Vinx Lin.
The name reminded me of yet another animal:

Ladies and gents, meet the mink.
It's one of the cousins of the otter and the weasel, for your information.

Which is a pert, impudent or flirtatious young woman.
Okay, guys, you can stop drooling now!

So I was thinking, "Vinx Lin is definitely a girl..."

Okay.
Not a girl.
A (Pretty hot) guy.
Who, unfortunately for him, has a very, very odd name.

I really respect you guys for making it big in the entertainment industry, which definitely mustn't have been easy.
But gosh, your names really are farh-neee!

The girl who cuts and puts up those pictures on Facebook;
Who throws the word 'depressed' around like it's any other normal word like 'happy' or 'sad';
And who seems to take it all as a fun, attention-garnering social game.

NEWSFLASH!

Depression is none of the above!

People who cut do so in private, not all over the internet. They do so not to purposely seek attention, but because they do not get enough attention. They do it for release, not as a publicity stunt.
Depression is a serious clinical/medical problem. It needs treatment and medication and an overlook by professionals. Depressed people would not have the time or mood to post all sorts of photos of themselves being 'depressed' on the internet. And photos of depressed people would most certainly not be in the same area as photos of themselves DFA-ing on their cameras with their new clothes, new boyfriends, latest holidays and all that shiz.
Depression is not fun. It is not something you can take so lightly. It does not happen just because a friend dislikes you, or whatever. And it is most definitely a very inappropriate attention-seeking tool.

FOOL.

With a couple of photos of your arms all bloody, full of carved out words on them, all in a file labeled 'Depression' in Facebook.
Except, looking at the rest of your photo files, you're smiling and laughing and posing and kissing and hugging.

FAKER.

Even in the hospital getting treatment, you take photos.
Don't you ever get a life away from your camera?

Depression doesn't just go away.
It's not a switch that can be turned ON and OFF at will.
It doesn't cure itself over the span of a few days and then you're back to publicly snogging your boyfriend like nothing ever happened.

DESPERATE.

No real person with clinical depression would ever think of posting pictures of themselves with their limbs all cut up on Facebook.
They stem the blood with cotton pads;
They wrap the wounds with Band-Aids;
They wear long-sleeved shirts to cover the scars.
They don't show the world they're abnormal, because all they ever want is to lead ordinary lives and fit in with society.

It seems to me that you're just doing all of that for a bit of drama.
So that people can comment on the photos, going, "don't do this, it's not worth it. don't care about the rest of the world and what they think! ♥♥ you, no matter who doesn't!".
So that when people demand to know what happened, you can go, ":( i hurt myself..."

IDIOT.

Stephenie Meyer got something right in her New Moon book: The effects of depression.
She accurately describes the loss of spirit, the mental blankness, the gaping holes.
However, the part where Bella Swan can perform like a normal student/child just a week after the impact is just BULLSHIT.
You wouldn't go back to being a brilliant student.
You wouldn't be able to sail through days with a smile (However forced it may be) on your face.
You wouldn't even be able to think so clearly about what's happening to you and analyze your 'dead'-ness.

Depression is like having something eat at you from inside out.
It isn't something to be taken so lightly of.
It is a serious matter, with seriously dire consequences.

Girl, this isn't a game.

This time, from PJ College of Art and Design (PJCAD), for entering their art competition some time ago.
I didn't exactly win win, but got consolation prize.

The package didn't have much useful stuff, mostly they're just novelties like rolled-up leather clock thingy and loads of PJCAD brochures.
Oh, and a HUGE bag.
Like one of those eco-friendly shopping bags, but WAYYYY wider.
Wonder what am I gonna do with it?

So, I was away from home for a couple of days.
Went to a "Science Camp" thingy at Seri Iskandar, organized by JPN or something.

5 reasons to wear contacts/glasses...

... If you really need 'em!

No, I'm not talking 'bout wearing those sight-corrective stuff for fun or fashion.
I'm talking about why you should put 'em on if you really need sight correction.

Short sighted? Have astigmatism?
But hate putting on contact lenses or even glasses?
Well, you SHOULD!

Aaaaaand here're the reasons WHY:

Because messing up signboards would mean wasting a good amount of time - The directions are up there. Turning round and round because you couldn't read the sign clearly would just be sh*tty.
Because getting whacked in the head with a ball during games hurts - It's even worse if you can't even see what hit you.
Because you won't have a solid argument with the teacher when she asks why you didn't do the homework assigned - She'd just go, "You know you can't see, wear specs lah!". Use excuses such as "Couldn't hear you, too noisy!" instead.
Because watching movies in Blur mode ain't fun - All you see is moving colours and shapes. I wouldn't pay RM10 for a cinema ticket to come out not knowing what the heck I just watched.
Because not being able to identify the person waving at you from across the room is an awful feeling - Wave back, and you'll feel doubtful ("Who the heck is that??"). Don't wave, and people will say you're stuck up. Ish.

I suppose there are many other reasons why people should seriously wear their specs, but I'm lazy to list them out at the moment.
=P

I find it so ma fan to wear them man.
Specs looks F-U-G-L-Y while contacts takes time to put on.
Plus right, my protein build up is like WHOAAA so I've to keep cleaning them with drops.

Funny thing is right, people who need specs don't want them.
But people with perfect vision want to wear glassless glasses (A returning trend) and plano (Zero power) contacts because they "look fashionable".
WTH?

The world ain't fair.
Wait till those people actually need the corrective tools, then they'll see how ma fan is it.
Ish~

Be content and satisfied with what you have, people!
They say that it isn't till you lose something that you'll seriously miss it and learn to appreciate it, but by then it'll be too late liao!

my dream story of success...

Success can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

To a Mom, it could mean watching her child score 10As in SPM.
To a 17-year-old, it could mean passing his P-license tests.
To a businessman, it could mean seeing his company’s franchises pop up all over the country.

To me, success means being able to achieve my dreams and walk through life with my head held high.

See, even though I have been studying in the Science Stream for the past two years, sciences is not where my heart lies.
My vision in life for myself is to become an amazing graphic designer.
It doesn’t matter if my pay is not that high; it doesn’t matter if only a select few know my name; I want to live my life knowing that I have put my talents to great use.

This dream may seem unconventional for a student who scored straight As in her PMR, for someone who can probably be a doctor or engineer if she puts her mind to it.
Why settle for a job that doesn’t guarantee a good pay and a bright future?
Why take up designing at all?
Why?

Well, let me tell you why.

I have loved the arts ever since I was very young.
Dancing, singing, drawing, painting, composing, writing, photography; I have done them all at least once in my 17 years.
And I can honestly say I loved doing them.

I feel the most happy when I am drawing, coloring or even when I am messing around with Photoshop, trying new stuff out.
I feel like I can do anything - create anything that I want - just by moving my hands.
And I can, actually.

By clicking my mouse, or shifting my pencils around, something new comes into being.
I can tell stories with my art; express my feelings and emotions and imagine myself to be anyone I want to be.
Even just working on something artistic gives me the patience and focus training that I need.
Being someone with borderline Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), I'm hardly able to keep still: Art subdues me.
And that gives me the pleasure of freedom, because my art is like wings given to me to soar above any trials, temptations and tribulations.

I once sat down and considered how I would work to achieve this dream of mine.
The first thing I had to do was, of course, to do well in my upcoming SPM examinations.
Then what?
What would I do next?
Where would I go?

After doing some research, I decided to go for a few Open Days held by various colleges and universities.
The road show held by Sunway University College at my hometown was one of the first few information-gathering trips I made.
At the hotel ballroom where the road show was set up, I learned more about Diplomas, Degrees and the path I would have to take to actually become a graphic student.

After that road show, I decided to go for more Open Days and actually visited many campuses around Malaysia.
Many of the people who met me at these events were surprised to know that I was only in Form 5.
Their general response when I told them that I was only taking SPM this year was, “Wah, so early already come for Open Day ah?”
And I would nod, because the fact stands that I cannot wait to begin that new phase of my life.

I want so much to be able to do what my heart desires, but time is passing seemingly so slowly right now.

Once SPM is over, I fully intend to enroll in a college for the first intake with my forecast results.
I’m also aiming for scholarships and monetary help so that my family’s burden wouldn’t be so large.
Even though I’m not the best student there is, I still mean to go all out for my dream.

----------

I’ve often said in the past - to friends - that when I am a successful graphic designer and when I make it in the world, I will come home in my private jet and they can all borrow it for a holiday.
Childish though this statement may be, in it lies my hopes that I will be able to succeed one day.
And when I do, when I return home, it will be something epic.

And it was fun!
Well, maybe not quite as fun as Pesta KK 2008, but this time around I got to know a lot more people.
Hehe~

So, while I wait for my Facebook to finish uploading my Pesta photo album, I shall be blogging 'bout it!

02MJG's Adventures At Pesta Penang 2010

Day One
We gathered at CHMC the night before (10/6) and stayed over that night.
The next morning, we woke up and took a 4am (Or so; the bus was a little late) bus straight to Penang Island.
Dressed in our muftis, we (As usual) cam-whored and crazy-d in the bus all the way.

Reached there just in time for briefing and registration/opening parade.
The first afternoon, we had the National Drill Competition (No pictures, sorry!) and we gathered at the St. Xavier's Institution basketball court to watch the best teams from around Malaysia drill.

It was at the drill competition that I was first introduced to Sam and his friend.
They're from 1st Serdang and were 02MJG guys' roommates.
So, anyway, we got talking for a little while and I discovered that he's actually quite interesting to talk to (Especially after all the rest of them cabut lari back to the dorms to tidur!).
=)

Evening came, and we had our Opening Ceremony at Penang City Stadium.
Rehearsal was very kelam kabut - ISH - and we had to stand there for a couple of hours.
But then the VIP (Minister of Transport - Dato' Sri Ong Tee Keat) came and we could finally start!

It was impressive, seriously, and I felt very proud to stand there and represent Perak state when I looked up at the stands filled with members, officers and visitors.

After that - We could finally fall out after 4 hours! - was the National Band Competition at the same venue.
Quite a few bands took part, but many were from KL.
Guess that's 'cos they have the funds and resources, huh?

When we went back to Convent Light Street (The girls' accommodations) that night, I was feeling really tired, but still happy to just be there.

And I could finally bathe after 24 hours of not touching water that night!
Gosh!
The lines at the bathrooms earlier were like WHOA so I couldn't bathe before changing to my full uniform for the opening.
I know, I know, EEWWWW right?

Day Two
Started that morning with a very interesting exercise...
STREET DANCING!

The Pesta committee invited a dance crew called Danzity to lead us in some 'warm-ups', which were basically some base steps for hip-hop dancing.
A guy - Sean Loh - took over the mike and shouted out instructions to us while demo-ing the steps himself.
I tell you, the guy has got an awesome set of lungs lah!
Anyway, it was something new because we've never danced for morning exercise before.
The verdict?
DAMN ENJOY SIA~!

That afternoon's telematch was canceled because it was raining (Super unpredictable weather - Rain, shine, rain, shine - Annoying!) and then put back on because the rain stopped!
Ish ish ish...
Too bad, by that time I was already back in the dorms and had already planned to catch up on all my lost sleep!
=P

At night, my platoon went to Red Garden to have our dinner.
Not very nice lor, if you're asking my opinion.

Then the National Singing & Dancing Competition at Dewan Sri Pinang!
Fuh~
That one really syok, I tell you.
Especially the dance teams from the various companies' performances were fun to watch.
Screamed ourselves hoarse that night.
=)

Day Three
Halfway through Pesta already!
=(

Being a Sunday, we went back to Dewan Sri Pinang for a Youth Concert/Sunday Service.
Worship and sermon by group from City Harvest Church, Penang (Why is the church so familiar, huh??) and we also got to meet Anthony Chang (Winner of Astro Talent Quest 2006), who performed a few songs for us.
If you weren't jealous before, I bet you are now!
How often do you get to meet a star, huh?

That afternoon we had a Treasure Hunt around the whole Georgetown area, which basically consisted of all of us running around town under the hot, sweltering sun.
Good teamwork-building for all the platoons, though.

Night saw us back at St. Xavier's, having a Fun Fair and B Idol (Like American Idol, geddit?)
All sorts of weird games (Bootlace tying, speed reading) and regular funfair games were organized by the Pesta committee and helpers.
We all played to earn 'coupons' which contributed to our platoons' scores.
Über tired by then, but still managed to earn a few points for my Platoon C!

None of my company members joined the B Idol, but Sam did!
Unfortunately, according to him, he was up there for the grand sum of 'bout 10 seconds before the judges rang the bell for him to come down.
LOL~!

Day Four
Explore Penang!
Woots~!

We were separated into a few groups to tour round Penang Island.
I went with Ronia, Melissa, Pearly, Wei Qian, Juo Keong and Sam.

Our tour group stopped at the church where the very first BB company in Malaysia was started...
Queensbay Mall...
A farm (Where we got to eat durians for free... Hoho!)...
And Balik Pulau.

Evening - Closing Ceremony.
='(

We marched from SXI all the way to the KOMTAR Dome in our full uniforms.
DAMN CUN LO~!
Sure very impressive also, maybe can go into the papers again huh?
*Wink wink*
(An article was published in Star newspapers on the 11th 'bout Pesta already. Read?)

It was a fun night, but also a little sad because we'd be leaving the next day.
The BB delegates from the other countries which joined us - Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore - were in all their different uniforms and some even performed dances for us.

Competition winners were announced (My platoon got 2nd!) and all of us cheered ourselves hoarse (Again) for them.
Justin (From 3rd KL - Knew him from past BB activities) got Best Drum Major weh!
^^

When we went back to our respective dorms and rooms that night, all my girls said wanna tong xiao (All night long) chatting, but all fell asleep at the end anyway.

Day Five (a.k.a Today)
Bus was scheduled to bring us back at 9am, so all of us spent the morning taking pictures, exchanging contacts and saying our goodbyes.
Kinda sad we had to leave so early, didn't really have enough time to talk to all the people I got to know during Pesta.
='(

But anyway, all good things come to an end, so we had no choice but to go home.
Reached back in Sitiawan at 'bout 1pm, safe and sound, so thanks be to God for the journey mercies.
=)

Overall, the Pesta was another fantastic memory of my BB life and one which I will treasure for a long time.
Especially since this will be my final year in BB, so... Yeah.

Got to know many awesome people.
Met many old friends.
Tried many fun, new things.
Bought many little souvenir bits for those poor souls who missed Pesta.
XD

Anyways, now it's back to reality for me and all the rest of them.
So... Yeah.

So.

Finally.

The long-awaited, much-anticipated BB 19th Pesta Penang 2010 is upon us.

This event, organised by The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia every other year is having its 19th run this June 11th - 15th.

It will be attended by BB companies from all over the country, as well as 100-over participants who're coming in from Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines and Singapore.

That's pretty much half of the Southeast-Asian nations which'll be gathered at Penang for 5 days for this activity.

We have awesome activities lined up for all the participants, and if you're feeling kepo, you can check out our timetable HERE.

So, to sum it all up in a few words:

Sucks To You If You Ain't Going!

So far I've been to Pesta once in 2008, which was then held at Sabah.

That Pesta was only joined by about 10 participants from my BB company, but we seriously had a blast that year.

Flying off to Sabah from KLIA (Yes, we're so totally kampung people!) and being able to join the Pesta Kaamatan festivities over there were all memorable experiences.

Anyway, this will be my second time joining Pesta, and this year, my company is sending 30 participants!

Personally, I prefer small groups (And I miss miss miss my old gang... ><) but since so many people want to go this year, why not?

Lets have this time of fellowship together lor.

So, tonight we'll be gathering at Chin Hock Methodist Church at 10pm, where we'll be staying over until Friday morning.

At 4am, our bus leaves for Penang and we'll be back on the night of the 15th.

Hopefully, everyone will be on their best behaviour over there as we're all representing our company, 2nd Manjung.

Here's some favours you can do for me/us:

Pray for us, for journey mercies and that we'll enjoy ourselves over there.

Pray also for a smooth Pesta and that BB in Malaysia will be one of God's tools to reach out to the young people in this country.

back from target camp: a little beaten, a little battered but still surviving...

So, 02MJG (That's the BB company I join, BTW) had its Target Camp last Saturday - Sunday.
I was one of the helpers and let me tell you, being a Senior is not an easy job!

After joining BB for 4+ years, I'm currently one of the most senior members of the company.
That means being more knowledgeable, more experienced and more ‘pro’ at lansi-ing and 车大炮-ing.
But it also means that I’ve got many members under me who’re looking up at all the Seniors for guidance and leading.

Being a Senior means being a leader who first and foremost leads by example.
Everyone does what you do and (Especially the more ganas Seniors!) look up at you fearfully.

They teach us at leadership training schools all the aspects of leadership and stuff like that.
‘How to become a good leader’ material.
But it isn’t until you can feel and experience it for yourself that you’ll be able to truly understand what leadership means.

After all these years, I have more or less come to terms with being a leader.
Well, I’ve had to, of course.
Being a Corporal isn’t something that promises a smooth, straight road.

A BB NCO - that’s Non-Commissioned Officer (Or Never Complain Officer if you’re trying to be funny) - is a great responsibility.
You’re a level above the members and have to strive hard because everyone observes you.
Officers, outsiders, members; if you wear those stripes, expect to have all eyes on you.

Being a leader means not showing you’re tired even though everyone else is just about done in.
It means you have to think fast and make quick decisions when problems crop up.
It means always showing a brave front and a confident mask, no matter what’s happening.

Not bad training to prepare people for the real world, actually.

Anyway, even though I’m not the world’s best leader (Far from it!), I think I’ve really made a great effort.
A lot has changed in my life after I joined BB.
There’s still room for improvement - definitely - but these years have surely been beneficial for me.

As I face my final year of school and BB, I’m trying to make the best of it.
Study harder, play harder; be someone worthwhile.
Someone who, maybe, after she leaves, will still be remembered for the person she is instead of the deeds she’s done.
Because that would be the greatest achievement of all.

I am sick and tired of being a slave to my emotions.

I am sick and tired of always being in the dark 'bout stuff.

I am sick and tired of the 'being used' feeling.

And I am sick and tired of watching the whole world pass by before my eyes.

Every time, every single time, you show up when I least expect it.

When I am trying my hardest to move on, you just come back and mess it all up again.

Just when I think I am able to forget, I can't because there you are, reminding me.

Your timing is fantastic, I give that to you.

So, okay.

I accepted that maybe our fates were meant to be intertwined.

But just as I prepare myself to face you, you walk off.

Just as I am coming to terms with the fact that you're there, you're suddenly not anymore.

I couldn't believe how one day out changed everything, but that's a fact and it did.

Now here I am again, left to clutch at straw ends with a heart that has a reopened wound.

I am an artist.

I was meant to see the world in a million shades of colours.

But the first time you left, you stripped my life of everything.

No colours, no feelings; nothing was left.

You left me in the cold, with nothing but black and white.

Now, I'm slowly repainting my life, making progress that differs in speed all the time.

You can have but two choices:

Either come and help me paint or get out of my way.

There's no in between; you can't just stand aside and watch me work.

Since the feelings are mutual (Or so you say), I think the next line of action is quite obvious.

But I accept, too, that there are other factors which have to be equated.

Like distances, studies, family.

But if you're not going to even want to talk it out and settle our scores, then...

I really don't know what else I can do about it.

To all 2nd Manjung Company members who are attending Pesta 2010

Yes, it's me, your PIC - CPL Serene Ling - speaking (Typing??) here.
And yes, I am too lazy to go and tell you guys one by one about the latest updates, so READ YOURSELF.

As a reminder:

Pesta is from 11th - 15th June 2010 (Whether or not got stay-over on 10th June will be decided later)
Accommodation is at St. Xavier's Institution, S.K. Hutchings and Convent Light Street.
Perak contingent is making its own Green T-shirt, so you all don't have to worry 'bout looking for green shirts already. (That's why I needed to collect extra RM19 - Those who haven't paid up, please do so ASAP!)
Things to bring:

SLEEPING BAG - Yes, I know I originally said no need, but there's some changes, so please find your own sleeping bags and bring!

Ceremonial uniform/Full uniform (a.k.a. Day Dress) - Please make sure they are complete!

Enough clothes (SOCKS!!!) and personal items (Toiletries, medication, some money, etc.) - Please bring at least ONE pair of long pants/jeans because we will need to wear it during the Pesta.

Parental consent form - They should all be with me already; those who have not passed them up, Monday (31/5/2010) is the dateline!

Things NOT to bring:

Expensive electronics and etc. - Cameras, handphones, MP3s - You bring, you jaga. You hilang, YOUR PROBLEM.

Unnecessary stuff i.e. junk food, games and bla bla bla - Please don't make your bags so packed/full/heavy that you will have problem carrying it around!

Woke up at 'bout 11 this morning to Andrew's message:
Kia go breakfast.

So I figured, "Okay lor, go out a while lor,".
Climbed out of bed, got ready and went to meet up at his house.

Rupa-rupanya kan, the bugger haven't even bathed also.
Me and Alex had to wait for him there.
He bathe... So long lah.

Anyway, went to pick up Alan, then we all went to a shop we call 老地方 (Lao Di Fang - Old Place).
Markie joined us there in a while (Come back from KL also tak bagi tau!), and as usual, we just sat there and ~~crapped~~ chatted for a while.
Lagi teruk than Gossip Girl I tell you, the time we can spend there drinking and talking!

After that we went back to Andrew's place to continue our ~~crapping~~ chatting.
Until around 3-something, then they wanted to go to McD.
Okay lor, so I just follow.

On the way to McD, we picked up Rebecca.
Reach there, continue ~~crapping~~ chatting some more.

4.30pm, Markie took me to church - MYF - then 6.00pm Andrew took me back again.
Anyway I reached home 'bout 6.30pm today.

My 'go out a while' turned out to be missing whole afternoon!
But no complaints lah, haven't seen Andrew and Markie in quite a while, so it was cool meeting them again.

Anyways, I keep thinking that if my dad knew my best and closest friends are all guys, I think he would seriously freak.
And then start a lecture that won't end for hours.
Once he starts, he never stops.
It's kind of like eating Pringles, just a lot more sien-ing.
LOL.

But that's me.
I am more comfortable around guys instead of girls, and these friends of mine never fail to cheer me up.
Doesn't matter what's gone on or what problems I'm having, just being around them - going out or doing stuff together - can make me forget everything for a few hours.
It's like that's a happy place for me, y'know?

Few people can understand this, I suppose.
Just because I prefer hanging out with guys, people get all sorts of funny ideas.
Well, what can I say?
As long as I'm in the right frame of mind and doing stuff for the right reasons, no one has the right to discourage me and distance me from these friends.

Anyway.

Today's MYF talk was on self esteem, the first of a topic that will cover a few weeks.
I know, I haven't shown my face at Wesley's MYF for a loooooooooooong while, but today so ngam lah!
Just nice can be there for this topic, something that I guess I can relate to, huh?

I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really hate getting my plans disrupted.

Like, stuff I've arranged for and planned for, then suddenly cannot be carried out.

That really gets me frustrated and sometimes pissed off, too.

I mean, I spent time and effort to lay out plans, then at the last minute all of the 'scheming' doesn't work out.

What a letdown lah!

Especially if its something that really matters to me, then it doesn't work out because of someone else who didn't play his part properly.

I know this makes me sound like a control freak, but I just want things to be carried out according to plan.

Sometimes I get these great ideas and then have to ditch them.

Aiyo, what a waste lah!

Sure will feel very very very disappointed, right?

Anyway, the story is that I arranged for a package to be passed on to a friend in KL.

Inside is some important stuff which I initially wanted to give him myself.

Unfortunately, due to some miscommunications, the thing is now sitting in another friend's place.

Still in Sitiawan.

OMG.

When I found out about that, I was like, "Kuso, kuso, kuso!" (Shit, shit, shit!).

Sedangkan I've already gone through the trouble of preparing all the stuff, it's stuck back here pulak.

Okay lah, I know that they didn't do it on purpose, but I'm still very disappointed lor.

Okay.

So.

It's been 'bout two weeks of exams already so far.

Done all my Teras (Core) subjects and a few Sciences, next up are Add Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

I'm not counting Sivik and PJPK as subjects.

So, yeah.

Next week is my doom.

'Coz I really suck at the Sciences subjects.

Yet I'm in Science Stream.

You ask why?

I answer, "I pun tak tau!"

Anyways.

On a cheerful-ler note, I changed my blog layout!

Love is such a wonderful thing, don't you think?

It appears when you least expect it, grabs you when you try to run from it, and holds you where you are when you turn away from it.

There're so many types of love that exist - from the very basic sibling love to the passion between males and females.

It is one of the most raw emotions that a human can feel and it spurns us to do the most outrageous things.

Things that, under normal circumstances, we'd never ever even think of doing.

IMHO, love is one of God's greatest gift to us.

The ability to love - and the need to be loved in return - is something that sets us apart from the rest of the living creatures.

Love is one of the most core senses that even a newborn is able to experience.

Love - and its expression - is something that has the remarkable ability to empower each and every one of us with a kind of fire that enables us to function.

Be it coming from a sister, a spouse, a BFF or a significant other, love is a glowing sensation that cheers us on through everyday life.

When you're loved, it feels like basking in sunshine.

You can go through mundane tasks - school, work, chores, exams - and still feel a vigor that was not there before.

Yes, it applies the same to all factions of love - even parental.

Surprised?

Maybe it seems unlikely to you because you'd be thinking, "Hey, I've lived with my parents for years and never felt the 'burst of sunshine' thing following me through my teeth-brushing routine!".

But (Ah ha!) there's a catch.

With love has to come the ability to express it.

You have to show the person(s) you love that you love them.

Else they wouldn't be able to 'feel' your love.

That much should be obvious, right?

So if you live with parents who're sticklers for rules and are forever uptight, you could be thinking, "They don't really love me,", but it could always be a case of them not showing their love.

Maybe they're not the type to be openly touchy-feely, or maybe they just don't know how.

Yeah, sure, I suppose many people would like to go for classes on "Love Expression 101", and not the type that's just for newlyweds about to go on their first honeymoon, either.

If people could just learn to love openly (And that means showing it!), things would be so much easier.

Maybe that family wouldn't always argue if they knew that deep down under all the shouting matches about financial problems was the idea of wanting everyone to get the best and live comfortable lives.

Maybe that couple wouldn't break up if they knew that behind the accusations of jealousy was an emotion of wanting to keep the other safe.

Maybe those divorcees would still be together if they knew that she cheated on him because he never showed her he loved her or even cared for her.

I don't live in a perfect world where everything's balloons and cotton candy, but hasn't everyone wished at least once before that such a universe existed?

A place where everyone didn't have social restrictions and emotional restraints, and were free to communicate with each other?

Okay, everyone.

It's Mother's Day today, so, you all know what to do, right?

Go do something for all your mummies lah!

So, here's my idea of something you can do to give to mummy dearest:

A clay charm.

(PS - Sorry for the awful quality pictures, had to use my handphone's camera)

I used some clay from Korea, which I bought from Popular ('Bout RM8 for this pack).

But basically, you can use any clay you want.

Just make sure it's paper-based and the air-drying type, because the type of clay artists use for pottery and stuff needs baking/special setting and drying techniques.

Paper-based, air-dry clay is just WAY easier.

I 'borrowed' these tools from my Dad, but most ordinary household stuff works, too.

Some examples are toothpicks to poke holes and blades to cut the clay.

(BTW, I only found out later on that these tools were from my Dad's schooling days - They were used for dissection in Biology. OMG!)

So, anyway, firstly decide what shape you'll be making.

Preferably, sketch out your design so that you'll have some guidelines to follow.

Don't do anything too complicated if it's your first time working with clay, because clay-shaping takes a bit of getting-used-to.

Here, I decided on 'M❤M'.

Cut out the clay with the blade/knife, just enough to roll out into an 'M'.

I shaped my 'M' by first making the clay into a square-shaped lump, then cutting out the curves of the 'M'.

(Tell me if you find an easier/neater way to shape letters!)

Do 2 'M's and a heart shape.

The heart was made starting with a square lump, too, then pinched into a heart.

(Sorry I couldn't get any pictures for this step - It's impossible to take photos with clay-covered fingers!)

When you've got all 3 shapes done, get some water and just dampen the areas where the shapes will be sticking to each other.

The clay will become sticky when it mixes with water, giving you glue-like surfaces to join the 3 shapes together.

If it still doesn't feel sturdy enough, use some UHU glue/Elephant glue on the joints to make sure they don't break apart.

Mine came out looking like this:

The hole in the corner is so that I can thread string or loops through to make a keychain/handphone charm.

Poke it with something thin and sharp, like a toothpick.

After you're satisfied with your creation, leave it to dry.

Depending on the size and thickness of the clay, it could take from a few hours to a day.

Should be quite fast, though.

Mine dried in only one night.

Oh, yes, don't forget to keep the rest of the clay in an airtight place.

I kept mine in a ziplock baggie, because common sense will tell you that if the clay can dry overnight, then exposing the leftover clay to air is a stupid idea, right?

So, anyway, by the next day it was dry already.

You can pretty much tell if it's dry by tapping it softly when you pick it up.

If it feels solid, then dry already lah!

A white charm would be SO boring.

So, paint it with some water-based paints.

I used Buncho Poster Colours, because that's the only thing I have.

Paint it however way you want, whatever colour you like.

Although, I'll tell you right now that pink and green DO NOT match.

Oops, my mistake in choosing those colours.

After the paint dries (Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes with poster colours), take your charm outside for a shellacking.

Shellac/varnish can be bought at hardware stores or DIY shops and come in spray cans.

Or you could just try transparent nail polish.

(PS - This layer of shiny coating is important; without it the colours will run off and the clay won't last long. Plus, it pretty-fies the charm. ^^)

Spray one layer on each side, waiting until it dries before you flip it over to do the other side.

Don't miss out the corners!

And don't hold the can too near the clay when you spray, or the coating will end up with air bubbles on it.

Spray it from about 30cm (A long ruler's length) away.

Wait (Again! =O) until the coating dries, then thread either a handphone charm string or even a keychain hoop through the hole.

Next?

Take it and give it to mummy, saying, "Thanks for everything, Ma. I love you,".

I am in Form 5 this year.

I am taking my SPM exams in November this year.

I am in my final year of school this year.

I am also in the most important phase of my secondary schooling life this year.

SO WHY THE HECK AM I STILL SO LAZY??

I know I should study.

I know I should prepare myself.

I know I should stop being so playful.

I know I shouldn't be so involved with extracurricular activities anymore.

Yet, every time the opportunity to say "No, I must start psyching for SPM already," crops up, I can't muster the will to go through with it.

I keep having this mentality that "Aiya, tomorrow also can lah," and then go ahead and enjoy myself anyway.

Effing bad la!

No mojo/motivation to stop procrastinating at all.

At this rate, I think I'll be "Tomorrow"-ing until the day before SPM.

Plus, mid-year exams also coming up.

With a notice.

No lah, not police saman me 'coz I didn't wear helmet or was speeding (Although that has happened before... X___x).

But it's an official letter from BB, telling me that I had ‘unsatisfactory attendance/participation’ and was ‘absent from Enrolment Service 2010’.
Thus giving me the choice to either 'remain in the NCO Council and promise to adhere to the expectations/fulfill the responsibilities of an NCO’ or 'relinquish my position as a Council member and remain an ordinary member of BB'.

Those words, almost exactly.

When I got it, I was like "WTH!" in my mind.

It has never occurred to me that I would one day receive this sort of letter from this organization that I have poured my heart and soul into.

As far as I remember, my attendance has been excellent for the 5 years I've been with the Company, with exception of a few 'absences because of unavoidable circumstances'.

And even then, I've always handed in explanation letters and supporting documents to prove my case.

Needless to say, I am now an accomplished letter-writer.

Very convincing.

Very bombastic.

Trust me on this.

Anyway, if you need tips on how to write prettily-worded official letters, you now know who to find lah, kan?

Anyways.

Back to my case.

Okay, I know that I've been unable to attend quite a few meetings lately, 'coz I've been mad busy with the debate competition and I've also been spending weekends checking out potential colleges.

I guess I've missed 'bout 4-5 weekly BB meetings.

Still, I've done all my jobs, completed all my responsibilities and have even tried to be as fully involved in every project/activity as possible, even though I couldn't make it to the actual event!

I taught Target class, as was required by all Senior NCOs.

I prepared all the stuff they needed for the recruitment of new members.

I even did a full multimedia project for the Enrolment Service that I supposedly 'absent' from.

Full multimedia project, okay?

Slides, backdrop, worship lists, even the presentations!

I spent loads of time working on those items before I went for my debate competition, to the extent that I was losing sleep and practice time just to complete the things I promised to do.

Not to brag or anything, and I don't even expect anything in return, but not even a word of thanks for the 'service' I've done all along.

Nope, not a single acknowledgement.

Oh, I serve for 5 years with commitment and nothing happens.

I skip a couple of meetings and *POOF* I get served with a notice.

Brilliant, just brilliant, that.

Yeah, I get it, I'm there to work for God, everything goes back to Him.

I get it.

I know it.

And yes, I thank Him that I'm able to join BB, because it's made me the person I am today.

A person of integrity and confidence.

Sometimes, I look back and I can really see how much I've grown.

I seriously used to be someone who lacked confidence.

I used to walk around with my eyes on the ground and head tilted downwards.

I didn't use to be able to get up in front of a huge group of people to talk.

I used to be insecure and unsure of myself.

And I still am, sometimes.

But so much has changed in me.

Now, I am a school debater and I have a group of wonderful friends.

The blazing anger of my prepubescent self has more or less melted away, to be replaced by something else - something much more promising.

All this, thanks to BB.

I joined it in Form 1.

Now I'm in my final year of Secondary School.

I'm still here.

A much different girl from the little weakling who was pushed to join BB so many years ago by overenthusiastic friends who eventually dropped out.

I am proud of my achievements to date.

Who wouldn't be?

I've been through a lot and experienced so much of adolescent life.

There's more things that I remember fondly of than memories of regret in my past.

I am proud of who I am now.

But is it too much to ask that someone else be proud of me, too?

I suppose I sound cocky.

But, hey, this is the girl who lived with years of insecurity haunting her.

I think I've come far lor.

I thank The Lord, I really do, for giving me these opportunities.

But some things I just can't help being bitter at.

Anyway, I've already replied the notice letter.

Obviously, I've chosen to stay on.

Can't expect anything else from me, right?

And I've tried my best to give my all for the Company.

I really have.

Things have changed, though.

Nothing is that straightforward anymore.

I was away at KL last weekend, but it was TOTALLY worth it!

I was at the Eighth National English Debate Competition: Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Dr. Hajjah Saleha Debate Cup 2010.

This time, to compete!

Uh huh, you heard me right, I was in a NATIONAL LEVEL DEBATE COMPETITION!

How cool is that?!

*Crickets chirp*

Okay, okay, so it may not be that cool to everyone, but it RAWKED to me, anyhow.

Anyways, to cut a really long story short, we won 2 rounds/lost 2 rounds = No Octofinals for D-ASH.

But still, met a lot of really cool people and I swear, you'd seriously be amazed at the level of friendships people can find when put together in desperate situations!

We met this Perlis gang whose sole guy was Deric (Check out his blog for a play-by-play account of our days at Peninsula Hotel/HELP University College, KL) and Houey's roommate.

The rest of the team (3 girls) stayed in the room next to me, Alia and another-Malay-girl-from-another-school-which-I-can't-remember-at-all.

We had the luck to be on the same side (Opposition) for the first round, so naturally, we exchanged some notes.

(When I say exchange notes, I mean Chat-Our-Lips-Off, that type of notes. XP)

Aaaaaanyway, those 3 days saw us bonding with the four of them and getting to know many new people.

Won't ever forget those nights we spent labouring over our speeches, sprawled over the beds.

D-ASH and MACS - Uh huh, we both got names.

It was a truly GREAT experience for us, especially since we've never debated outside of Perak before.

Just seeing all those people there (90+ schools) made me think, "Wow, we were chosen to come and take part in this,".

Let me tell you, it felt awesome to be part of the 'elites'.

Anyway it's probably the last time I'll be involved in debating as a civilised sport.

(I love that - Civilised Sport)

I'll never stop debating, of course, it's in my blood.

But from now on, it's gonna be kept to teachers, my parents and, occasionally, friends.

Probs no more competitions for me.

So this was really enjoyable.

And I'll treasure it for a lifetime.

Stuff like this, ya don't forget.

Decided to call the ACS Debate Team D-ASH instead of just DASH because it looks (And reads) cooler.

Anyways.

It's a day away from our national competition.

Yes, yes, only preliminary rounds, but very stressed already lah!

Teams from 90 over schools from all around Malaysia are gonna be there, and we're one of the 90.

Elite right, right, right?

Super happy that we even had an invitation and had this chance to wet our feet at nationals lor.

Anyways these few days leading up to the competition have been super busy and pressured.

Not only are we lacking time to prepare ourselves, but I also have BB Enrolment Service this Sunday!

Goes without saying that I can't attend it lah, but still got many things to do for the program.

*Sigh*

Next time I shouldn't be sooooooooooo ready to offer my help/services out of the kindness of my heart liao.

These few days, because of the debate discussions, I've been losing my temper a lot.

Like literally, A LOT.

Because I always disagree with one of my teammates, so we constantly end up arguing.

But I also realise that while I am quick to flare up, I am also able to cool down just as quick.

That's a really huge improvement from my last-time super-jalapeño pepper-hot temper.

Maybe God put me in the debate team to teach me how to control my temper, huh?

Anyways, I've learnt to really appreciate help from people.

Like in debate right, after you've been harping on the same topic for 20 minutes, nothing else makes sense anymore.

So when outsiders come in (People whose two cents are sensibly intelligent lah, of course!) and give their opinions, it's like a ~~fresh of breath air~~ breath of fresh air.

(See? See?? Stressed my gray matter so much that it's like, overtaxed liao!)

So, thankyouthankyouthankyou Chuah and Wen Wei for being our fresh air today!

(Y'know, Wen Wei, you should seriously be in the team!!!)

Went to Penang for a church camp from 17th-19th April.

At first I really really really reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally didn't wanna go.

But what to do?

Parents already registered (Without me even knowing), so bo bian liao.

Car broke down on the way there.

Ishhh~

Dumb Pajero, just slowly started slowing down and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~ died just outside Pantai Remis.

So pek chek la, okay?

Need wait for like, a whole hour in the blistering heat for a replacement car to come.

You guys know la, my super über short temper.

Hot + Bored = Steam la wei!

Okay, maybe that doesn't make sense.

But anyways.

Finally got a replacement Ranger from my dad's company and continued on our way.

Reached Copthorne Orchid Hotel juuuuuuuuuuuuuust in time for check-in.

I can't even remember if we even stopped for lunch, I was just super tired and angry at being dragged all the way there to spend three days sedangkan I've got so much work waiting for me at home.

But the following days weren't too bad la.

Actually, they were quite okay lo.

The speaker was interesting-er than past year speakers, so I could focus on him.

Learnt quite a few stuff from there, something I most definitely didn't expect.

So, overall, it wasn't a total waste of three days.

Anyways, many people said a lot of things to me at the camp.

Some of the most memorable:

"You know, God wants to see your sensitive, softer side. You don't have to be tough all the time,"

"So many problems? You should really talk to someone lor... It's better, you know?"

"You're lost... But you're turning back. It's not too late because He sees what you're doing, how you try,"

I guess there were others, just can't remember right now.

I guess I can just say that, yeah, I really am trying.

I'm taking their advice and just trying harder to change myself.

Not only the bad tempers, but also the tendency to go looking for trouble.

Just gonna keep trying to give all of that up.

Life isn't fair; that's what they all say.

There's nothing any one of us can do about it, because that's just how things are.

If everyone lived fine and dandy lives, what would be the use of police forces and stuff like that?

I mean, a lot of people wouldn't have their jobs, right.

Life's unfair to balance the scales of the world.

But then again, I really hate it when stuff goes wrong and is unfair against my favour.

I guess everyone does, huh?

My getting unfair treatment would mean that someone somewhere in the world is getting his or her big break.

Or so says karma, anyway.

Personally, not believing in karma would be much easier.

At least we could be the sort of people who blames everyone but ourselves for stuff that happens.

Blame games feel good, at the very least.

Can't just grant me the award?

Is it so difficult?

Is it truly because I don't deserve it?

Then all these years, all the stuff that I've done, all also fake de lah, right?

Sure.

All I ask for is a bit of recognition.

That also you people don't wanna give to me.

After all I've done, the hours I've slaved away, in the end it all adds up to nothing.

2010 debate workshop at HELP...

So, yesterday (10th April), me and my debate gang went down to KL for the Debaters and Adjudicators workshop organized by HELP University College.

We started our journey at 7.30am from school.

We arrived there at 11.30am.

Why so long, you ask?

Because we got lost, that's why!

We spent like, 1 hour going round and round because we kept missing turn-offs and misreading road signs.

The highways pulak so confusing, every turn leads you off somewhere completely different.

I tell you, I really salute KL-ites for their ability to wind their way through the road-mazes on a daily basis.

If it was me, I'd get so hopelessly lost to the point that I'd just sell my car and take the LRT instead.

I might be singing a different tune once I start studying in KL and get to know the place, though.

But till then, I'll be bringing my laptop along the next trip we make.

Which, by the way, is on the 24th of April.

We'll be going down on the evening of the 23rd, because the Eighth National English Debate Competition: Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Dr. Hajjah Saleha Debate Cup 2010 will start the next day.

Excuse me while I go scream my excitement.

Okay, I'm back.

So, a national level debate competition, huh?

I'm dead excited.

And dead nervous also lah!

Imagine meeting the best school teams from all over M'sia and having to hold my own on a stage in front of unknown adjudicators.

Like, whoa.

But we only have 2 weeks to prepare for the darn competition.

Scratch that.

It's actually only 'bout a week when you don't count in our schooling times.

*Starts clutching hair*

Where got enough time lor??!!

The prizes, however, are lucrative.

And I do mean LUCRATIVE.

HELP's offering scholarships/tuition fees waiver and other goodies for all teams who make it into Semifinals and beyond.

Think handphones, cameras and plaques.

*Squeals*

I just wanna do my best for my final year.

Art colleges don't have inter-varsity debating competitions, so this might very well be my last year debating.

So, anyway, yesterday was an eye-opener.

It was really good to be in an environment where everyone was so focused on the same thing.

It was good, too, to have all our questions answered and our unsure-ities justified.

Not to mention that we went to Mid Valley after that.

Just gonna work our hardest and do our best for the upcoming competition.

Everyone's done things at a moment's notice and regretted it later, right?

Like some idea you just got and just acted on it immediately without giving it much thought.

Maybe because it sounded like a good idea, or people were pressing you to makeadecisionmakeadecisionmakeadecision!, or you just couldn't be bothered to think it through.

Well, I did just that, yesterday.

See, 5S2 got a new English teacher because their original one has taken a 3-month no-pay leave.

The new teacher's a Form 6 graduate, waiting for university entrance.

My former classmates have been telling me all sorts of stories about how hopeless she is and how bad her English is.

So, I decided to enter her class for a one-period ('Bout 35 minutes) lesson yesterday.

I was curious as to how 'awful' the newbie teacher was.

Also, I wanted some part in hazing the newbie.

Mean of me, I know.

But I just can't stand teachers who teach certain subjects they're not even good at, just because there's a lack of anyone else to pick the class up.

So, anyway, I went in for the period after recess, while my own class (5S3) was having History.

At first, she didn't even notice me.

Then she started handing out worksheets for us to complete.

As she passed me mine, she squinted and asked, "Are you a student of this class?"

Of course I answered, "Yes,", because that was the truth.

Well, it was the technical truth, anyway.

I was a member of the class - earning my right to be in there in last year's examinations - until the Principal booted me down a class for dropping Accounts for SPM.

So, it wasn't a lie I told.

Logically speaking.

I was just answering her literally.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, she asked me manymanymanymanymany times and I answered yes manymanymanymanymany times.

Even a few of my ex-classmates backed me up.

But at last, I had to leave.

She was too darned ruler-straight with nil sense of humour.

Ughh~

Then, she ratted out to the Principal and Penolong Kanan.

Little do-good-ing prick.

So, I've been expecting either a call to the school office or a berating from my parents if they're called up.

None so far, but I'm still on my toes.

I just HATE hypocritical do-gooders.

As most of you already know, yesterday (27th March) Earth Hour was held from 8.30-9.30pm.

For those of you who don't know about this,

WHERE THE HECK HAVE YOU BEEN, UNDER A ROCK IS IT??

It's a super-promoted event and advertisements are EVERYWHERE.

Literally.

Some people are even taking advantage of this Earth Hour thingy to cash in on big bucks.

Free 12oz of coffee when you buy a tumbler le.

I wonder how much is the tumbler.

Probably enough to buy TWO Grande-sized Iced Peppermint White Chocolate Mochas, huh?

Speaking of Starbucks right, have you ever tasted it?

If yes, LUCKY lah you.

If no, I can't blame you.

Like, who charges RM15 for a mug of coffee?

Yes, it is good coffee.

Yes, it tastes amazing.

Yes, they have all sorts of varieties.

And yes, the coffee beans are imported from all over the world.

But seriously, VERY EXPENSIVE OKAY?

I live for 17 years (Okay, 16+ years lah) also just drank it ONCE nya.

But believe me when I say it was the best coffee I've ever tasted.

Anyways, as I was saying, Starbucks was having this promo and I wanted to check it out.

I was in KL yesterday; in Mid Valley at Earth Hour.

And WTH!

Couldn't find a single Starbucks shop in the whole damn place!

All I could see was Coffee Beans, left, right and all around.

You know how the country's always having big big events to "chart its name on the international board"?

Like organizing gigantic book fairs to "top the Guinness World Records" or building spectacular structures so that "the world will be in awe of us"?

I've come to realize that Malaysia does a lot of those stuffs and frankly speaking, all the 'excuses' sound like bogus to me.

Everything the government does is apparently to let the other nations know that we're a force to be reckoned with.

That we're no third-world country.

That we're going up in the world and are formidable opponents economically/politically/socially.

It all sounds like, as I said, bogus.

Phony.

Claptrap.

Rubbishy nonsense.

Take your pick on adjectives.

Why can't we just do things for the sake of truly wanting advancement for ourselves?

Organize a book fair so that people can have access to books from all around the world at low prices, instead of just to get the country's name into the world records?

Because that's what was stressed so much upon when I heard the event on the news.

Oh, sure, the Deputy Prime Minister had a nicely written speech.

It was awe-inspiring, crowd-capturing, attention-grabbing - sure.

It was also all about the heights the country will achieve after launching this event, how our country will be listed as one of those which had a record-breaking act, bla, bla, bla...

Get the drift?

I didn't hear a thing about what we, the people, gained from having this event.

Nothing about books or education or knowledge or whatever.

As if we would gain a lot by having our country's name listed down as having organized one of the biggest book fairs ever.

As if we would go overseas and be pointed at on the streets and have people whisper, "Hey, that guy/girl is from the country-that-organized-the-world's-biggest-book-fair! Ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh!"

But I digress.

You see, a country exists for its people and not the other way around.

Malaysia is represented by its people, its warganegara, its 人民.

We are Malaysia.

What better way to show the country off to the world than to ensure that its countrymen are world-class people?

Because beneath all those 'achievements' the government works for, there're still multitudes of problems.

Racial disharmony, oppression, crimes - they're the stark truths that do exist.

The government wants the country to go up in the world?

Hard to do - since we're giving up the English language, too.

And I haven't even thought about how expensive it's gonna be, either.

Okay, not exactly 'won' won, but 'second place' won.

But is still considered winning, right?

Only lost to SMJK Nan Hwa, which was expected, anyway.

Awesome, right?!

ACS has never sent out a volleyball team before (Or else it's been veeeeeeeeeeery long since one has been sent to compete!) and our first year going, we get second place!

Awesome lor!

Even though I didn't play much, because, honestly, if I did play in every match, we probably wouldn't win (It's my first year playing, after all...), but hey, winning sports competitions is a team effort and the feeling of achievement is sweet.

Whether or not we'll be getting trophies/medals/etc., is a different matter, though.

I heard that the Under-18 guys' competition only had pencils as the first prize.

Amazing lah.

Train mad hard to win a pencil each.

The hosting school is either reeeeeeeeeeeally kiam siap (Stingy), or they're in dire need of funds.

But anyway, who cares?

We get the co-curricular marks, have tasted success and also set the precedent for next year.

What could be better?

(The honest answer for that would be "A lot of stuff", but I think you get my point...)

I'm still gonna continue training and try to improve myself at this game, if only for the sake of my pig-headed attitude of never-give-up-ness.

Also, I'll be able to keep fit and have an excuse to exercise regularly.

I'm in Form 5.

I will be taking SPM at the end of 2010.

As I'm most certainly going to continue studying after SPM, and am very adamant on not taking Form 6, the only option left is...

College/University!

And so, with a challenging quest in hand, the damsel-turned-knight began her journey to search for the best institution in the kingdom which would teach her the Secret Arts.

She started by switching on her computer.

Oooookay.

So I had a few places in mind, namely:

Actually, all I did was type the names into the search box and voila results!

What I wanna do is something along the lines of Graphic Designing, preferably a degree straightaway.

MIA offering quite interesting courses leh!

RM30,000 for diploma course.

Diploma only leh!

VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION IS BACK ON!

*Squeals*

Wow, seriously this is the first time that I'm SO enthusiastic for sports.

Okay lah, I love all sorts of sports, but this year is the first time that I'm serious 'bout playing something.

Running... Doesn't count, right?

'Coz it's a solo sport.

Netball... Ugghh.

I had no choice when I played it last time.

But volleyball.

Volleyball is something that I can learn from scratch and get better at it.

It's not only physically challenging, but also mentally challenging (Hours of keeping at the same training... Can 'pek cek' ar!)

And hey, I love challenges.

*Grins*

So anyway, the inter-school competition is back on and if ACS can come out with a school team this year, that'll be really great!

(Just have to train... Like, mad hard)

Also...

I'm still waiting for my damned foot to heal from the dislocation.

Plot Outline:

During the Ming Dynasty, the Emperor of China possessed one weapon greater than all others, the Imperial Guards, an elite force of assassins recruited from street orphans. If you haven't and are planning to watch 14 Blades, chances are that you'll be eternally grateful to me for providing you with the plot beforehand.

Because, honestly, you won't be able to understand the story when you're watching it.

At least I didn't, anyway.

Just got back from the cinema after watching the movie with my usual gang.

Our general verdict?

A waste of perfectly good, new RM10 notes.

(Hey, that cash was hard-earned through CNY bai nian-ing okay!)

Anyways, all the show's full of is action sequences and killing scenes.

Well, can't deny that the action scenes are really good (Especially with all the flying here and there!) because of the amazingly choreographed fighting acts and impressive cinematography, but take those away and you're left with...

A desert full of sand.

Seriously.

Plus, the camera flies all over really fast, too, so that sometimes all you can see is just flashes here and bright lights there.

Like the cameraman took extra portion of RedBull that filming day.

The only thing commendable about the movie is its cast.

The guys (Donnie Yen, Wu Chun), for example, are toned, good-looking, toned, bronzed, toned, tanned, look damn good, toned and oh, did I mention toned?

Wu Chun - as the Judge of the Sands - is especially drool-worthy.

Too bad he didn't take any main roles.

Entered the show late, died early.

Ishhh~

Check out the washboard abs!

The girls, on the other hand, either turned out to be vicious whip-wielding assassins

or "I'll obey whatever you say, no matter whether it's a lie, or it isn't a lie,"

(Zhao Wei, playing Qiao Hua, seriously had that line in her script lor!)

Oh well, watching the movie, while being a waste of cash, at least gave me an excuse to get out of my over-stuffy house this Chinese New Year.

So, I dislocated my ankle on Monday.

Let me give you some advice, by the way:

If you can help it, NEVER EVER EVER NEVER dislocate a bone/joint/limb/*insert preferred body part here* because it HURTS like nobody's business.

Actually lah, the part that hurts the most is when you have to go to the doctor to get the dislocation twisted back lah, BUT STILL!

Those agonizing moments of pure pain is enough, okay!

Anyways, I've been hobbling all over since Tuesday morning.

I'm just able to put my foot flat on the ground today lo.

Can't wait for it to get well.

I wanna resume my volleyball!

Finally!

Another weekend to enjoy.

Y'know what?

Being in 5S3 isn't so bad.

The best thing 'bout it is that class sure knows how to have fun!

At least I'm guaranteed laughs everyday.

Stupidest incident of the day:

There was this lady who came into our classroom after recess.

She was selling stuff and asking for donations.

For some charity thingy lah.

So she was selling this twin teddy bears soft toys, kinda looked like this:

And our Add. Maths teacher was like, "Come lah, buy for Valentine's Day,"

Which is when my friend, Alex, pulled a pained expression and gripped his heart.

He's always so totally full of crap that I just stared at him.

You know what he said?

"But I'm still single!"

Then when the lady finished her 'business', she went out to go to other classes.

Alex again:

"You may be deaf and you may be mute, but you just broke my heart..."

Then I did the dumbest thing ever.

I laughed.

Not the 'heheheh' giggly laugh.

The 'BWAHAHAHAHA' kind of laugh.

And that's when I got scolded kao kao by the teacher.

"If it's a private joke, please laugh silently to yourself,"

Wah, cold man!

Okay lah, damn lame lah, but at that time it was funny lor!

They'll be going to Proskuneo School of Prayer and Worship.

Honestly?

I just know I'll really miss 'em.

I mean, hey, they're two of my closest buddies.

They were a great part of my life, as well as contributors to who I am today.

Although they'll only be gone for two months, but it still feels like a long while.

My stomach gives a funny little lurch every time I think of that fact.

I fell during volleyball practice last week.

I was running and slid forward head-first when my body went faster than my feet.

So I've got massive injuries on my elbow, waist and knee.

And that's the reason why I've been hobbling one-sided-ly around school and have been unable to participate in the Sukantara.

Volleyball accident, okay?

I did NOT crash my motor!

'Coz that's what everyone seems to think when they see my injuries.

"Langgar motor ah?"

Whaaaaat lah.

Anyway, it hurts like dickens.

(Okay, what's 'dickens'? I just scammed the word out from a book! Sounds dirty, though)

And I can't walk straight.

Or lie straight.

Or sit straight.

Or do anything straight, for that matter.

I know I look weird, too, riding my m-bike while leaning towards my right side.

Mad painful, okay?

Just biding my time till I heal up, then I wanna continue my sports training.

Final year of school, gotta scrimp for all the kokurikulum marks I can!

Time flies.

Seriously.

I mean, it seems like just yesterday that I started the first day of Form 5.

Now I'm finishing the second week of school already.

What happened to the two weeks in between, huh?

And it seems like only yesterday that I was in class 5S2, and now I've just survived the week in 5S3.

Confused?

~~Too bad~~ You should be.

So...

Let's rewind a little, back to the 2009 Form 4 year-end exams, shall we?

I did work for the exam, I did study, but just didn't do as well as I'd hoped...

I ended up dropping to the second class, Science 2.

First time in my five years of secondary school I dropped to second class lor.

But wasn't too bad lah, I could get myself used to it.

Then, on the second Monday of school, during assembly...

The killer news hit, brought about by our oh-so-fantastically-great-principal (NOT!) Dr. something-something-something-something (I'm not stupid enough to mention the name!), AMN.

~~(Yes, must NOT forget the 'AMN' title! It's like a datuk-ship or whatever)~~

"All those who want to drop Prinsip Perakaunan for their SPM will move to 5 Science 3, effective from today, because I have had ENOUGH of parents coming to make ridiculous demands for their children to drop subjects for SPM..."

And I lost her right after that, because my mind had turned into a swirling, pitch-black ~~whirlpool~~ ~~swamp~~ ~~puddle~~ mess.

Thoughts like, "What...", "Drop to S3?!", and "Oh no..." kept floating around the mess up there.

But to make a long, frustrating story short, I had no choice but to move down to the third class because I really don't wanna take Prinsip Perakaunan for SPM.

I really, really, really suck at the subject, by the way.

Anyway, I've made it through these two crazy weeks, as you can see.

My following days are gonna be spent in 5S3, trying not to go mad...

You see, 5S3 has this 'rep' every year.

Without fail, there'll be many discipline cases that come out from that class.

Many teachers will complain, discipline masters will frequently visit and any teacher coming into the class usually has a perpetual sneer/disgusted/bored look.

~~Damn them~~ Unfair, right?

After all, we're still the third best class in the Pure Sciences stream, meaning the third best class in the whole Form 5.

But yet, people still look down on S3 students.

"If you're from S3, high chances that you're some kind of delinquent,"

Oh, well.

Can't deny that fact 100%, myself.

Just gonna make the best of my time there; do the best I can.

Waiting for my freedom.
